Robin Scurlock of SCS &amp Associates

Robin is an ICT education consultant and business leader with 25 years’ experience of ICT transformation projects across public and private sectors. He has worked with many clients in both the independent and maintained school sectors, including new Academies, Free Schools and University Technical Colleges (UTCs).

He works with federations, sponsors and local authorities (LAs) on existing and new school projects in compliance with Department for Education (DfE) and Education Funding Agency (EFA) guidance.

Robin has a background in market research, consulting and programme management for telecoms and ICT managed services projects. He has held senior management positions at France Telecom and COLT Telecom, where he led the datacentre business. He is a Governor at an ISBA-affiliated Co-ed day and boarding school in Berkshire where he leads on ICT strategy development. He has an MBA from the Cranfield School of Management in the UK.

Graham is an educationalist who has 20 years’ experience working on the development of affordable education ICT solutions in secondary and tertiary institutions in both Australia and the UK. His projects have aided and directed the teaching and learning, as well as the transitional and organisational planning, of both curriculum and continuous development programmes (CPD). In his Masters of Educational Practice Graham focused on future directions in education. Two of his papers on ICT infrastructure have been adopted by the Queensland Department of Education in Australia.

Graham was responsible for directing a number of BSF programmes in the UK and is now involved in delivering the new UK government’s programme for free schools and academies. Recently, Graham has been Deputy Principal in charge of development for the Huddersfield’s Creative and Media studio school, overseeing the integration of building design, curriculum and ICT. His strength lies in translating educational visions into reality.

Roland is an experienced education, leadership and change consultant who has successfully delivered new school projects across a range of national programmes, including BSF, the Primary Capital Programme, the Academy programme, Studio Schools, University Technology Colleges and Free Schools.

With over 30 years’ experience in education and leadership, he has worked with over 30 local authorities and 250 schools either directly, or through leading teams of education consultants. He has recently worked as the lead education consultant on four new academy developments, two university technology colleges, one studio school and one free school. Roland was the education consultant for the Schools Capital Building Division team at the DfES (2004) that developed the national BSF programme and has worked with the Learning and Skills Council, the National College, regional development agencies, further education colleges, private training providers and national awarding bodies.

Roland is currently a member of the Labour Party Schools to Work Commission preparing material that will inform the Labour Party’s education policy for the next election. He has also been Chair of Governors of Horsforth School, one of the most successful schools in Leeds.
